Qualifications

The curriculum at the San Francisco Studio School is focused on a meaningful encounter with the study of visual art. For those reasons the procedure for applying to the school is a highly individual one. If a student is drawn to the school's philosophy and program and is willing to commit to serious study, he or she is encouraged to inquire further or apply.

Admissions Procedure

Prospective students for both the Full Time and Photography programs can submit the following materials via mail or email:

  1. Application - Downloadable PDF
  2. A resume or CV
  3. A concise one-page statement of intent regarding your interest in study at the school including brief background information.
  4. Examples of work, which may take the form of 15 to 20 35mm slides, CD-ROM containing image files no larger than 300KB each, or website. If you would like the materials returned, please include a suitable return envelope with sufficient return postage.
    Please Note:
    SFSS is not responsible for loss or damage of application materials but every effort is made to handle portfolios with care.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from references relevant to the area of study, whether a teacher, artist or employer.
  6. A non-refundable application fee of $60.
