Drawing Drawing is a critical part of the SFSS program. It not is taught as an academic pursuit, illustration or from a formulaic approach. Drawing is studied as a means to illuminate the senses and to gain experiential understanding of form and space. Contour, plane dynamics, value, gesture, mass and proportion as seen through drawing inform the study of painting, photography and mixed media. Drawing is the activity by which the student comes to terms with the visual in art. It is by drawing from the figure, still life, interior, landscape and, at times complex constructions, that this knowledge is achieved. |
