The Drawing Intensive is comprised of three days filled with in-depth concentration on the nature of drawing. The workshop will explore perception as an alternative to academic preconceptions of drawing, the vital potentials of the picture plane, discovering light and space, scale, the quest for form, understanding visual metaphor and the difference between pictorial and narrative concept. Presentations, exercises and the constant activity of drawing in very small and very large formats as well as different media will dramatically advance understanding of drawing and its potentials. Related disciplines such as painting, mixed media and photography will be referenced to explicate the essential qualities of drawing. The Drawing Intensive will transform one's understanding of the process of seeing. It will accelerate participants' understanding of essential issues related to drawing as structure and as an ongoing preoccupation for the artist through many forms and media. Models will be present throughout the workshop.
