- Is the SF Studio School accredited?
The school is dedicated to the study of fine art and in that sense is a traditional art school. It does not offer liberal arts courses, is not accredited and does not grant degrees. SFSS does offer a 2-year certificate of completion.
- Does the SF Studio School
prepare me for a career in fine art or other related jobs?
The school's philosophy believes the artist's aspiring must be first for the art itself. It provides that study in depth. SFSS does not address development of career strategies or commercial art.
- How
long is the SF Studio School full-time program?
The certificate program is two years long. This is comprised of a total of four full semesters, plus the shorter summer course of study. Because students come from a variety of backgrounds, some post-MFA, and others earlier in their study the program is customized to the needs of the student. Further details can be determined upon an interview. Often students elect to extend their study past the 2 years defined by the certificate program.
- What experience or
background does the SF Studio School expect for full-time students to
have?
Acceptance to the program is based on a number of criteria including intent, portfolio, and potential. Students come from different educational backgrounds and rarely have experience in all of the disciplines taught at the school. Lack of experience in an area of study is not necessarily a drawback. Seriousness of purpose weighs strongly in the application process. Further information is contained on the application form.
