SFSS Schedule Painting and Drawing Certificate Program The Painting and Drawing Certificate Program develops over a two or three-year period of time. The program is comprised of studio work, critiques, drawing sessions, critical studies and visits to museums and galleries. The instructors are present during the week as appropriate to each area of study to give lectures, talk with students about their work, hold group critiques or to present demonstrations. Visiting faculty events are scheduled as an enhancement of the curriculum. Each semester there are customized schedules for each full time student. New students attend the Visual Studies Workshop, which is comprised of five 1-hour meetings scheduled on a mutually convenient basis to acquire specific vocabulary and concepts related to the curriculum. Open studio time during the week permits students to maintain continuity in their work. Full-time students have access to the facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The photography program is designed as a weekly seminar structure. The format includes slide shows, lectures, discussion of readings, critiques and hands-on work. Participants concentrate on individually determined projects. The photography program meets for 3-hour sessions one night a week. Ongoing work is reviewed weekly. Independent Study Students in all disciplines often choose to maintain a program of extended study to gain depth and further progress in their work. Schedules for extended study are designed on an individual basis. |
