Student's Contribution to Tuition
The school maintains a sponsored-tuition policy, which results in nearly two-thirds of the student's tuition being paid through donations made to the school by patrons believing in the vital importance of the visual arts and the enormous benefit of support for the emerging artist. This allows deserving students the opportunity to experience a period of deep involvement and growth, concentrated wholly on their art, within a structure that guides and facilitates study but does not dictate style. The sponsored-tuition policy applies to all students and is an important point of difference for the school in that it makes it clear that art is being studied for the sake of art, not for career purposes, within an aware and supportive environment. It ensures a certain quality of student, seriousness of purpose, and it creates a notable position within the art world. Accompanying the fact that sponsors committed to the visual arts support the sponsored-tuition program, resulting in low tuition to the students, all students are expected to put forth their full effort in their studies.
Tuition for the Spring 2009 semester is as follows:
The Full-Time Certificate Program: $3500 (15 week semester) + $250 (materials fees) = $3750
The Associate-Study: $500 (15 week semester) + $125 (material fees) = $625
Tuition is paid in 2 separate installments during the 1st and 7th weeks of the semester.
Any student attending the San Francisco Studio School should be aware that the student is fully responsible for the costs involved in attending the school. The SF Studio School recognizes that many students may need additional financial support to cover the tuition costs. The school does not offer additional financial support or loans, but if you are in need of suggestions regarding additional support including private student loans, please contact us directly. As with any student loan, the school recommends that students be conservative and only borrow what is absolutely necessary. The SF Studio School is not responsible for any private loans granted to a student.
