McNair Evans

Former SFSS photography student, McNair Evans, was recently awarded the 2016 Guggenheim Fellowship in Photography for his project, “In Search of Great Men.” McNair’s photographs are held in public and private collections including the SF Museum of Modern Art and have been featured in publications such as The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal and Harper’s Magazine.

McNair’s work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. including solo exhibits at the Sasha Wolf Gallery in New York in 2015 and currently at the San Francisco City Hall presented by the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries. The exhibit is open to the public through November 18, 2016.

 

Fei Li

Online Independent Study student, Fei Li, has received several awards including the 2016 Queens Arts Fund New Works Grant by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. She recently was awarded two artist residencies for 2016, one at the Chinese European Art Center and the second at The Alfred & Trafford Klots International Program in France.

Her work has recently been exhibited in juried exhibitions at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT and the Asian Culture Center in South Korea as well as the Columbia University’s Theoretical Physics Center Art Project in New York.

In 2015, Fei received an artist residency at Dumfries House in Scotland and her work and an interview with her appeared in LandEscape Art Review’s Anniversary edition where she speaks further about her work and her time studying at the San Francisco Studio School.  Fei has continued her relation with the school through Online Independent Study.

Jhan Jhen-Hao and Molly McCall

-Online Photography student, Jhan Jhen-Hao's work is in a solo exhibition titled "Tourist" at the Fotoaura Institute of Photography in Tainan City, Taiwan from October 1st - November 13th.

Jhan's series, "A Sense of Place" was recently selected as part of the Young Portfolio collection by the art museum, Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts, in Japan.

-Online Mixed Media student, Molly McCall's work has been included in several juried exhibitions including the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, CA, the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA and the SohoPhoto Gallery in New York. In 2016 she won the "Director's Award" in the juried exhibition "Dreams" at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO.
